About

Buniyaad means foundation.

Our parents built theirs from nothing — new country, new language, double shifts. Buniyaad exists so the next generation builds on top of what they made, not from scratch. Founded by Punjabi professionals in Surrey who wished someone had done this for them.

Our mission

Every student in our community should be able to ask someone who actually does the job.

Students in Grades 8 to 12 and their parents meet working professionals from our own community at free events in Surrey and Langley. They hear what the work is really like and the road each person took to get there, so career decisions are made with real information, not guesses.

We are just starting. This website opened in October 2026, and we are planning our first events now. The fastest way to be part of it is to sign up today.

It started with the same question, over and over.

“Can you talk to my kid?” At weddings, at the gurdwara, in WhatsApp groups — professionals from our community kept getting the same request from parents. Everyone knew a student who needed direction; nobody had a way to connect them.

So we made it a thing. Community events first, where students and parents meet mentors face to face. Small cohorts and short webinars next. All free, all from the community itself.

What we won't budge on

ਸੇਵਾ

Free forever

No fees, nothing to buy, and no one is ever sold anything at an event.

ਸੱਚ

The unfiltered truth

Mentors say what the work is actually like, including the parts nobody puts in a brochure.

ਪਰਿਵਾਰ

Parents in the room

Students under 19 come with a parent, guardian or another adult family member aged 19 or over. They stay for the whole event.

ਹਰ ਰਾਹ

Every path counts

University, college, an apprenticeship, a trade, your own business. A surgeon and an electrician get equal time.

Questions parents ask us

What ages is this for?
Students in Grades 8 to 12. Younger brothers and sisters are welcome to come along with the family.
Do you offer one-to-one mentoring?
Not today. Events are group events with parents present. One-to-one mentoring would need full screening, including a criminal record check, and we will say so here plainly if that ever changes.
Is it really free?
Yes. Events, everything. Mentors volunteer their time, and there is nothing to buy.
Can parents come?
Please do. Events are built for families, and career decisions in our community are family decisions — we plan for that.
My kid doesn’t know what they want. Is that okay?
That’s the main reason to come. Events are built for browsing — walk between tables, listen, ask. "Not sure yet" is the most common starting point we see.
